Read a round-up of the Pilot YLP, From dreams to reality for Yunnan villagers.
See a picture essay of the Yunnan Pilot Project. (This is a large file and may take a little time to load.)
The first YLP was held in July and August 2006. The field project took Young Leaders to Haitang Administrative Village in Baoshan prefecture, Yunnan province, in China. Participants worked with farmers and the NGO to develop a supply chain management strategy to enable villagers to sell their products at a fair price. The resulting plan also proposed governance structures so that the revenue generated can be used to finance the development of the community in a sustainable manner. Update: Construction of an irrigation and water supply scheme for the Haitang village has recently been completed.
