This project is focused on scaling up the business of a social venture which commercially markets and distributes fair trade and environmentally friendly products including palm sugar, charcoal and wood vinegar both to domestic and export markets. The project aims to promote sustainable forestry, improve income and empower rural communities.
Integrated Business of Winery and Eco-Lodge
Ningxia Province, China
The project is focused on the expansion of an integrated business of a vineyard, winery, agri-business and eco-tourism. The company started as an anti-desertification initiative and is the only award winning eco-tourism farm-lodge that has been converted from the desert. The company also produces a premium brand wine. There are significant benefits to society associated with this venture, namely economic opportunities for the community, gender empowerment and poverty alleviation as well as ecological benefits.
